BEFORE YOU START: Create a new folder in your AUTOCAD folder, called “lastname_nontest”. Save the following figures into this folder, call them KITCHEN.dwg and HOUSE.dwg/BUILDING.dwg.

A NOTE TO NON-TEST TAKERS:  This is liable to be one of the more difficult projects that you have been given in your High School career.  That is OK.  Take your work one step at a time and you will be fine!  Remember, I am looking for QUALITY, not QUANTITY on the Houses!

THE NON-TEST MIDTERM PROBLEMS:

PROBLEM ONE: The Kitchen Problem (50 Points): Replicate the Kitchen below, make sure to make use of any AutoCAD commands necessary. Include all details possible. Please make the drawing to scale, according to the dimensions on the right side of the diagram.

PROBLEM TWO: The HOUSE/BUILDING Problem (100 Points)- There are SIX versions of "The House/Building Problem," a simple building and house, a medium building and house and a complex building and house. All of these drawings will be difficult. The student is expected to select a drawing to replicate that will be a CHALLENGE of the student's abilities in AutoCAD. CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT STUDENTS MUST select a MEDIUM or COMPLEX drawing for this project.

Your job is to do the very best that you can to EXACTLY REPLICATE the house/building that you have been assigned.  Every line and every box must be included.  I will be grading heavily based upon the amount of work that you put into the project, as well as the QUALITY of the work created.

If it helps, you are allowed to use a ruler to get basic dimensions. I highly recommend you use the METRIC side of the ruler and measure in Millimeters!

A NOTE REGARDING COMPLEX ELEMENTS:  I would like to see you make an effort to include all decorative elements, such as the the turned posts in front of the COMPLEX HOUSE, the clock face and posts on the SIMPLE BUILDING or the decorative work on the COMPLEX BUILDING.  I recommend creating them off to the side or on a separate files and copying them to where they need to go.  You might to use freehand ARCs to complete these. 

GRADING: You will be graded based upon the quality of your KITCHEN and HOUSE/BUILDING, as well as your work ethic in completing the project.  200 points total (Kitchen= 50 points, House/Building= 100 points, Work Ethic= 50 points)
