The Tutorials: You need to learn how to do "Transitions" and record sound in Sony Vegas. Fortunately, Mr. B. has put together some quick video tutorials to show you how to do each:

The Project: You will be selecting a topic for your themed scene. Make sure you check in with Mr. B. and let him know what theme you are taking, so that nobody works on your theme.

You will be making a short (30-60 second) movie on this theme. I do not care how you do this, but it must be school appropriate. The following must be accomplished when creating this film:

  1. You MUST come up with a plan for how this film will be made. What scenes do you want to film? What angles? How will you make your point? What story are you going to tell? PLEASE NOTE: You are NOT ALLOWED TO USE THE MEDIUM LONG SHOT IN YOUR FILM. AT ALL!
  2. Once you have an idea for your Themed Scene, PLEASE WRITE UP YOUR IDEA IN A PARAGRAPH and show it to Mr. B. Give him a quick briefing of what your idea is for the film.
  3. Please keep your scenes realistic and achievable! No explosions, car crashes, etc.
  4. Your film will have an opening title and closing credits.
  5. Your film will have AT LEAST TEN (preferably way more) different scenes/camera angles included, with TRANSITIONS between them. (if you wish to work with someone on your filming, that is fine, but your ideas and your editing are your own!)
  6. Your film MUST exemplify the Top SIX Video Rules as much as possible.
  7. Please include MUSIC to help with your theme, using the Recording Sound Video Tutorial.

What you CANNOT do: You film MUST be school appropriate and must not overtly harm anyone, especially other students and teachers. DO NOT make fun of any students or staff. Any incidents of this type of filmwork and the student will receive an immediate ZERO on this assignment and be refered for disciplinary action.

Grading: I will be grading this as follows:

• 25 points based upon the ability to use interesting and varied camera angles.
• 25 points based upon the ability to exemplify the Top SIX Video Rules throughout your film.
• 50 points based upon the quality of your production and the evidence of planning and preparation ahead of time.
